Very well written and easy well explained instruction to followvery easy for anyone to follow and get amazing resultlI had used this book when we started dying natural fiber yarn and cotton fabric with my guild and found it to be very useful and easy to understand. It's almost a dying book for dummies. It has great cat cartoons in it to help make a point. Then I had difficulty locating the book, I was really glad to locate it.. .Although the cover of this book includes a picture of several strands of yarn, this book is 99% about dyeing cotton, not wool. If you are looking for inspiration about dyeing wool for handspinning this is definitely not the book for you. The book contains 80 pages, only one of which specifically talks about dyeing yarn. The dye she uses is procion MX dye which requires a soda solution. From other reading it sounds like that solution can be very harmful to wool fibers. Fortunately I chose to buy a used copy of this book so it didn't cost me much. I'm not going to bother to return it. Maybe I can sell it to somebody else locally. This book describe elemental and deep skills of dyeing in plastic bags. Is not theoric. I'm sure the author has dyed in his home whith the skills explained. Moreover the book talk about organitation of dyes, fixing olours, tye-dyeing, etc...I am a quilter and became interested in dyeing and wanted to do this in an easy way, no mess and can be done at home. Our guild recently purchased this book and it is GREAT. Definitely no mess or fuss. Well written and easy to follow with comedy and tips it that are very helpful. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to try dyeing fabric. This book is well-organized in easy-to-follow instructions including conversions of terms and measurements from the English terminology of the author to what we're used to here in the US. Instructions include drawings and some beautiful photographs of sample results. It's a perfect book for someone like me who has no prior experience in dyeing.really for serious dyersWell written book, Wonderful illustrations, Easy to follow directions. You have almost all the products in your home. Recycle and reuse come to mind with this book.I love this book.! So easy to follow. Easy to get ingredients. It really is mess free dyeing. The cartoons throughout are lovely and quite funny. An unexpected bonus. For the sake of the planet though - don't snip the corner off your plastic bags to empty out the exhausted dye - bunch the neck and let the fluid run out. Then you can reuse your bags over and over. The instructions are very clear and concise. The process that is happening in your bag is clearly explained so you understand why you are doing what you are doing. The photographs are brilliant - showing the results of the different ways of going about this. The different ways of scrunching the fabric - whether you start with it wet or dry. This book was so good I went and got the authors other book "Magic Dyeing made easy". Excellent also and covers dyeing silk. This book is pretty much an idiot proof introduction to dyeing. I have been having a go with instructions learned off the internet and books from the library. I have purchased two dyeing books recently, one got returned as I thought it was a lovely book but with hopeless instructions. This doesn't have the number of coloured illustrations as some dyeing books, but follow the clear and concise instructions within it and the results will have you smiling. The book has explained things that were working for me but I didn't know why, and clarified some small errors I have been making. I would recommend this as a very good dyeing book to start with to any beginner, you might go on to purchase others, but you really wouldn't need to.This book is an unpretentious and straightforward introduction to dyeing small items using plastic bags. The author provides sensible instructions on how to avoid waste and dyeing disasters. Good overall introduction to the subject.what an ingenious way of producing dyed fabric. I would never have thought hand dying at home could be as mess free as this. As always, the book was packaged correctly, arrived safely and was easy to remove from its packagingInteresting and fun to do
