I use mostly for dirty cat litter. I have 2 cats & always worry that typical grocery store plastic bags will tear. These are also larger than grocery store bags so holds more without being too large. They fit well into same container I have always used that is a closed pail a little bigger than a bathroom garbage can. Works well in them also. Just wish they came in a different color. White is always good. Goes with any decor.Even black or yellow.I bought these for cleaning out the litter box and picking up dog turds. I specifically chose these because they're biodegradable so I don't feel as bad tossing them into the trash considering all the waste that we fill our landfills with. At least I have some peace of mind knowing the bags are biodegradable and the contents inside the bags also make for great fertilizer. ; )I am so pleased with these bags. They feel stronger than the bags I've been using and they're a little bigger than most grocery bags I've used. I like that they're biodegradable because I use the bags for cleaning the litter boxes. Used litter can be heavy and these bags hold up. Best purchase ever for me!Glad I bought these! Well worth the money!!!Have bought several times and will continue to. I'm hoping the biodegradability is accurate and that they do break down in reasonable time.My main use and opinion: I bring them to the grocery store, use them for my groceries, and then re-use them as my garbage bags. And for any other use we used to use the old grocery bags for (toting an item or two around, etc).Just as I have used the outlawed plastic ones since they were introduced (decades ago?).They are reasonably strong, which was important for any bags claiming biodegradable. I would never put more than a certain amount of weight/sharp-edged products (like liquid half-gallon hard cardboard with edges, or the bigger/heavier pasta boxes...two of those *max* but while holding the bottom to an extent).Knock on wood, have not yet had one break on me. If I had to guess, I'd say they're almost as strong as the plastic bags that used to be used.I'm in NY and the laws eliminated those plastic grocery bags right at the beginning of the covid mess in 2020...and although long overdue, and we needed to stop using these, it was implemented at about the worst time; people began using reusable bags that became messy quickly and complicated everyone's extra effort into cleanliness at the time, and of course the bags being re-touched repeatedly. The new thick bags that ya had to buy acted like (and still do) petri dishes of germs. Possibly worse, a few years back research was showing those bags were made with lead in them.So we're getting exposed to germs repeatedly, any liquid mess that isn't cleaned up immediate attracting insects, and a lovely highly toxic metal all at the same time.(SIGH)Regardless, we needed to get rid of the grocery plastic bags and should have a long time ago. I've seen the videos showing both the nature areas being cluttered with the horrible things, and the warehouses that are stacking them by the millions; at least they're out of landfills and water, but apparently they're literally sending them by the ship load overseas for storage. It's my understanding there *are* technologies to break down that plastic, but like all innovations, it's not being utilized as it should be.(Side note, I lean politically heavily right, the environmental concerns are shared by all, it is *not* a partisan issue. Almost every righty I know cares about pollution issues!)The price is a little high, but it's an expense that's worth it to me for as long as the price remains steady. In the summer, when using as my garbage bag, if there is anything remotely food-related going in them, I will double bag them to avoid insect issues in my garbage bin. As I said, they're sturdy enough, but nothing like actual garbage bags that have stretching strength to them. So I just double bag to avoid both any spill possibility, and any insect issues when there's any kind of used dinner napkins or food scraps/fruit seeds/etc going in them. It's worth it.Very good product, nice to know we're contributing that much less to the mess humanity is building up.So they banned plastic bags in new Jersey to save the fish and the environment...translation*We're banning plastic bags so you can buy them and we earn profit. We won't ban them on Amazon though.. anyway these bags are awful. They easily rip. Not for shoppingI USE THE BAGS FOR GARBAGE. THEY ARE STURDY & DURABLE!Use them for recycables cat litter and bathroom garbage bags. The bag says right under the tree picture, "49.28% biodegradable in 900 days under normal landfill conditions." you can see this text right on the amazon product picture (in green under plant picture).I thought they were 100% biodegradable, but they arnt. i wont be buying more. And this bag makes me wonder if the other 50.72% is even biodegradable, or if its normal plastic mixed in. I want 100%.Thinness
